In today’s episode we’re taking a deep dive into freedom, what it means and how we can start to feel more free so we can do what matters most to us.
Every week on Your Freedom Unlimited there are 2 episodes. One where I interview a guest who’s found freedom in their lives to do what matters most to them; and one where I share some thoughts with you on how to find a little more freedom and fun in your life so you can stop feeling stuck and take action on your dreams and goals.
This week I wanted to shine a little light on freedom from my perspective and show you how you can access more of it every day rather than waiting for some far off time to “feel more free”.
So What Sort of Freedom Am I Talking About?
Freedom is in the title of this podcast – so I wanted to explain exactly where I’m coming from when I’m speaking about freedom.
Freedom is a big word. It means different things to different people … democratic freedom, freedom from slavery, freedom of speech, thinking and association.
As part of ths its vital to feel safe as a person of colour to live and work without fear of retribution for the colour of your skin. I am of course referring to the tragic circumstances in the US of George Floyd’s death. #blacklivesmatter
But this is of course applies wherever we are in the world.
It is clear there is still quite a bit of work we need to do as a global society on these basic freedoms. In future episodes we will look at these basic freedoms.
There are Even More Subtle Freedoms We Can Explore
Today I want to focus on a freedom that is much more subtle yet just as important and far-reaching for everyone regardless of race, skin colour or location on this planet. It’s my belief when each of us work on this more subtle freedom then we’ll be closer to making sure everyone has access to those bigger picture freedoms I’ve just been talking about.
This freedom reaches into every moment of how we live our lives. I’m talking about how we feel inside ourselves every day. The limiting beliefs of not good enough.
Do You Feel Good Enough or Not Good Enough?
- Do you get up in the morning and worry that you’re already up too late with a to-do list as long as your arm? And by the time lunchtime comes you are nowhere near half way through your list? Or do you get up feeling excited for the day? Feeling you have all of the time in the world, inspired by the day ahead?
- Do you worry about what people might think of you or do you feel free to say what you feel to others?
- Do you feel like you have to be careful around certain people or situations in case you trigger them or they trigger you?
- Do you feel you’re living your purpose every day or that you’re counting the days, months or years until you can?
- Do you ever wake up at 2am feeling worried, stressed, anxious or fearful about something in your life – your relationship, job, business?
I’m not sure about you but for a long time while I felt I had the basic freedoms in place I still feel pretty stuck and anxious about two things:
- Stuck by those feelings of not good enough
- Stuck inside our societal conditioning of “not enough”.
Do You Feel You Have Enough or Not Enough?
In the west there is a strong feeling of not enough – we are often worried about having money so we can pay off our mortgage, give our kids a good education and save for an investment so we can live a “good” life and feel safe and secure and then maybe travel or do what lights us up.
What I’m talking about here is the hamster wheel of western life. Most of us are on it, or have been to a certain degree – whether we know it, or whether we like it or not.
This kind of thinking can be ingrained. How many times a day or week do you say to yourself: “I don’t have enough money to do that”, “I don’t have enough time to do that.” or “I’ll do that fun thing later and never get back to it.”
Don’t get me wrong I’m a BIG believer in abundance and nice things – BUT it is the way we’re going about it that is not working. The stats on stress and anxiety show us this.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO):
- Over 300 million people are estimated to suffer from depression
- Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide
- One in 13 globally suffers from anxiety.
In Australia, statistics from Beyond Blue state:
- A quarter of Australians will experience an anxiety condition in their lifetime.
- One in 16 Australians is currently experiencing depression.
- One in seven Australians is currently experiencing an anxiety condition.
- One in eight Australians is currently experiencing high or very high psychological distress.
In the United States, the National Institute for Mental Health states:
- Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness affecting 40 million adults age 18 and older, or 18.1% of the population every year.
- In 2017 an estimated 17.3 million adults had at least one major depressive episode. This number represented 7.1% of all U.S. adults.
There are many factors that go into creating these statistics. I know as I have experienced severe and ongoing anxiety.
But these stats clearly show there is a problem here and so the logical question is:
“Are we adding to the issue by approaching our lives from a fundamental perspective of fear and lack and not enough?
To Find Freedom We Need to Consciously Shift Our Frequency
I know for me a big part of my anxiety was regrets about the past, fear of the future, fear of the unknown and fear of not enough – money, time, health etc. I felt generally not good enough, and when you put that on top of society’s “not enough” life was not a lot of fun.
I felt a victim to my world rather than a leader of it. Overtime I did alot of work and realised that I needed to make some conscious shifts to my perspective on a lot of things. When I did that the pain of anxiety subsided and I found freedom again.
Where does this sort of freedom come from? Does it come from a parent, our family or our friends? Does it come from our work or business or government? Does it come from outside us?
No it comes from inside – from a decision that you have had enough and are ready to make a range of conscious shifts on the inside.
This is how to find freedom within ourselves. I’m talking about a conscious shift to the way we approach our lives in every single moment.
In years’ gone by cart or carriage horses wore leather blinders so they couldn’t see anything but the narrow road ahead. The blinders were in place beside the horses’ eyes so they would not be distracted or panicked by things beside or behind them.
In many ways, we’re like those cart horses living with blinders on. Working hard and struggling every day with a narrow view of our future.
It’s time for us to take the blinders off and to understand the wider view. That there is a different way to look at and approach our lives that can bring us vastly different results.
You might have heard me talk about a 21st-century upgrade to the way we use our mind – this is what I’m talking about!
I’m talking about taking those blinders off and consciously shifting our perspective to find true freedom within ourselves.
When I talk about a conscious shift I mean a conscious shift to our whole frequency, or what I call my Frequency Code on a particular topic or situation.
Frequency Codes are like packets of information. They include emotions yes but they include other vital elements such as our intentions, beliefs, personal stories, emotions, experiences and exposure.
It is a lot like understanding there is a whole radio station that has to be in place to produce the show, or sound waves, that we listen to, There is a lot that goes into a radio station to create the sound wave we hear. It is the intention of the owner, the decision on the type of radio station, the experience of the presenter, the emotions of the presenter, the music or talk selected.
So a conscious frequency shift is a lot like tuning from one radio station to another.
There Is No Need to Burn Down Your Life
With this I am not saying we have to burn down our lives – we do not need to change our jobs, leave our relationships or sell our homes. What I’m talking about is taking a fresh, new approach to living the life you have.
I’m talking about creating your new reality in your old reality. By changing your perspective on a few core constructs – you can totally turn things that are not working around.
It is like a quiet revolution on the inside.
How do I know this? Because I’ve done it. When I started to live from this conscious shift to a new frequency my relationship with myself, my personal relationships, my health and my career and business completely changed for the better.
In Your Freedom Unlimited in the next few episodes, I’ll be talking more about these shifts in frequency. All I ask is that you try some of them on for size. See what works for you.
Today I want to talk about two vital shifts in frequency. What are they?
Conscious Frequency Shift #1: From Not Enough or I Don’t Have Enough to I Have A Lot
The fascinating thing is that when you look at the big picture of our society we actually have a lot.
From a materialistic perspective, we are one of the richest civilisations ever to have walked this planet. Most of us in the west have ample food, shelter, heating, clothing. We educate our kids and, in non-COVID-19 times, we go to the store, catch up with family and friends, and we travel.
We are living the lives of kings and queens of centuries gone by BUT WE DON’T SEE THIS.
In fact many of us seem to focus on the opposite. We think we never have enough time, money, health, relationships and that we must strive and struggle to keep what we have and to be safe and secure in the future.
It is like we’re completely blind to our own good fortune and we feel less freedom … some would even say we enslave ourselves with this thinking.
So the shift here is to see the abundance around us. When we can start to see and value what we have we can start to shrug off the limiting belief that we don’t have enough and we start to see exactly how much we have. As we start to see we have a lot we start to see how much more we have.
Why not take a moment to write down all of the great things you have in your life?
Conscious Frequency Shift #2 – From Not Good Enough To Understand Who We Truly Are
The second shift I’d like to share is for you to tear down the belief around you in not feeling good enough. To shift from beating ourselves up, and hating on ourselves to a place where we can feel happier and more confident within ourselves.
How did I do that?
It took me a while but the shift came when I remembered who I truly was.
It finally came when I understood that we all are part of a larger consciousness – that we are fractals of the larger whole.
In the emerging science and philosophy, this is called the Primacy of Consciousness. What does this mean to me? It means that:
- we are perfect and worthy as we are
- we have access to immense inner power if we allow ourselves to see it
- we are the creator of lives and our reality.
From this perspective, we are suddenly back in the driver’s seat of our life.
When we understand that we create everything and that everything is for us, we are no longer victims to our circumstances. We see that we are creators of our experiences and that we can change our creation in any given moment.
When I realised that I – and we all are – part of this larger consciousness I relaxed. I let go. I let myself out of the jail cell I’d put myself in and I opened up to the true possibilities of my life.
This is why the word “unlimited” is in the name of this podcast. Because I’m all about each of us realising who we are and truly tapping into our unlimited nature.
I know this is big. And it took me quite a while to really get this – but when I did it changed everything.
For some listening it will be old news, for others I’m just asking you to try this on for size. If the old approach to life wasn’t working then why not look at this?

The Frequency Shifts Happens on the Inside
This change to your frequency is subtle and comes from the inside. It comes from a place of understanding who you truly are and from changing your approach to the way you approach how you feel about things, people and situations.
What I’m talking about is living from a place of love and expansion, potential and positives and inspiration rather than tension and fear and control and to-do lists and worry about what others will think if you say or do something.
This is about you tapping into your own personal source of power – your connection to consciousness and understanding your true worth and unlimited self.
Where Would You Like More Freedom Now?
So that’s a lot to take in. For now let me ask you where YOU would like more freedom?
Where you would like to feel more happy in your life?
Where is there contraction and tension and where would you like more fun, expansion, joy and happiness?
Would you like to feel better:
- about yourself?
- in your relationships with your partner, children, parents, family, friends?
- about your health?
- about your business or your career?
- about your finances?
- About how you manage your time? Do you feel like you have plenty of time or are always rushing around with an endless to-do list?
So for today just pick one area – one part of your life where you would like to feel more happy and free.
And today set the intention that in the course of the coming weeks and months you will find more happiness and freedom with this item you’ve picked today.
A New Way to Set Intentions
How do you set an intention? I’m not sharing the standard law of attraction intention setting technique here.
We are going to do things a little differently.
What I’m asking you to do today is to open the window to a door in your heart where you allow yourself to open to the possibility of a brighter, happier future for yourself. Where you expand to feel more freedom, happiness and fun. Where you allow yourself to connect to this idea that you are worthy and whole as you are. That you are in fact connected to a greater energy source that you can tap into any time of the day or night. That when you energetically shift then other things must shift. This is what quantum physics shows us.
This method of intention setting is not about the universe bringing you anything or making anything happen for you. It is about you seeing yourself as creator and the power source of your life. It is about you bringing what you desire most to you. It is an inside job.
So this is a different form of intention setting. This is about understanding you are Source and you are your Source.
You can do this right now in this instant. All you need to do is open your heart to the possibilities and an energetic shift can occur inside you.
